Livermore's best hair stylist says,"There is more to having your hair done than a good shampoo and shorter hair."

Great hair stylists understand that they are creating an interpretation of how the client wants to feel when he or she looks into a mirror.

Tips for better service

Your hair says who you are.  When your hair looks good, you feel great. So how can you find a stylist that you can trust? Ask questions before you let someone cut your hair. If the consutlation goes well it is more likely that the stylist will perform to your expectations. If you feel like he or she can not understand your vision it may be risky to let him or her start cutting. Pictures do help, but understand that most pictures in magazines or books have professional models, makeup, and lighting. Your hair may be in the same style as a picture but still look very different in real life.

Communication is vital between stylists and clients. Be certain you are being heard before you allow someone to create your image, you will be much happier with the result.

Are you experiencing hair loss?
Both men and women experience hair loss for a variety of reasons. Today's solutions are more natural and safer than ever before, however be careful about choosing a hair replacement specialist.

Your local stylist may be recommending processes that can, and do result in even more hair loss.
Unfortunately in today's market many hair replacement specialists and manufacturers are trying to move toward products that need frequent replacement and cost big bucks. So, ask questions, do research, and see examples BEFORE you commit your resources for any hair enhancement.

Extensions are becoming more popular, but can permanently destroy hair. See our page on extensions before choosing someone to do yours.

Is a $50.00 hair cut (or more...)  better  than a $30.00 hair cut??

After being in the business of beauty for more than 30 years now, I have seen styles come and go...and come again. When I first began cutting hair it was said that if the cut did not work, the style meant nothing. At that time we did not use gels, pastes, mousses or very often even hair spray. The cut HAD to be correct or when the client tried at home to produce the look, they could not just glue it all in place and go.

Today we see "artists" razor cut, texturize the hair, chop divets into the hair to make it edgy, point cut the hair all in an effort to make the client think that they need the stylist and no one else can duplicate that result.

I say baloney!! These tactics are shown on stage at industry events to make hair styling look glamorous to stylists that have yet to develop common sense and experience to know what will and what will not work for the client at home and it is ruining our industry! Showing these tactics only serves to confuse the stylist, AND the client.

A good cut is still the foundation on which the style is built no matter how "edgy" the look we are going for is. Stylists who really know their craft can adapt good cutting principals to any style and make it work at home also.

So is a more expensive cut better? Most likely not if the stylist does not show good common sense in all areas of their craft. Enough glue can make any cut look good in the salon, if your style still works without the glue, than it is likely you have a good cut. If not, seek help elsewhere. Your life will be so much easier when you don't have to fight with your hair or your stylist!
